The Awesomeness of Conan O’Brien Cannot Be Contained In This Title

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes,  Conan returns to wreak comedic vengeance on the world.

The Return of the King: Conan is Back

Sweet, sweet CoCo. How we missed thee.

Conan O’Brien’s Love/Hate Relationship with the Internet

Insightful article into what Conan went through and how the Internet is affecting old media.

What we got instead was more than three hours of O’Brian, Patton Oswalt and Andy Richter drinking heavily on stage and talking about how the Internet has utterly ripped the media business in two over the course of their careers.

“Those men behind the curtain—the great and powerful Oz—are scared shitless right now,” O’Brien said, adding that the chaos is so high that anyone in the audience could just as likely be running a major network in a few years. O’Brien opened by saying he was choosing to see opportunity in the volatility in his business, but over the next few hours it was clear that it wasn’t that simple.

He said several times how much people loving his work enough to support him – even if that support was a mere two-second Tweet for “Team Coco”—meant to him and how it kept him going. He clearly didn’t want to leave the stage. He threw the clock off the table when he sat down asking why there was a time limit, and towards the end sat on the edge of the stage taking questions from the audience long after they’d said they would take “just one more question.”

The evening was billed as a tribute to O’Brien, but he turned it into a tribute to his fans connected around the world by social media instead.

Coco’s Fans Stick it to Leno…On Hulu

Ah, the power of the people to voice their opinion on things. Too bad these are going to be ripped down pretty darn soon. Hulu’s terms and conditions on tags arguably prohibit all of these keywords.

Very funny, entertaining interview with Conan O’Brien at the GooglePlex.  You get the impression that this experience has shown Conan the power/potential of new media, and how people will create and consume content in the future.

Conan O’Brien Sets up Twitter Account

Coco’s on Twitter!!!  He’ll probably have over a million followers by tomorrow.

Update: It’s been about four days and he’s just shy of 472,000 followers.  Guess it’s going to take longer than I thought.  Not bad, though.  3/1/2010

Changing Media Consumption Habits Play Role in Conan’s Imbroglio

“A generational switch is coming,” he said. “The baby boomer audience that has mostly been the Leno audience is going out. The Conan audience is becoming more influential — even if they aren’t watching television the same way the previous generation did.”

Conan’s Final Speech

Class act all the way with a nice touch at the end. Coco’s one-of-a-kind.  I hope he eschews the system that so often betrays and alienates some of its best performers and makes the transition to new media.
